Ethics
I use AI to make things. The opinions are mine.
I build with AI, I sell AI systems, and I take sponsorships from companies in the same space. Those are real conflicts. This page is the accounting.
The short version
- 01
AI helps me build and draft. Every opinion is mine.
- 02
Every paid relationship is disclosed, every time.
- 03
I do not recommend tools I do not use.
- 04
What you share in the community stays in the community.
How AI touches what I publish.
I build with AI and I write about building with AI. It would be strange to be quiet about how much of it touches my own work, so here it is.
Video and livestreams are me. Unscripted, unedited opinions, in real time. What you hear is what I think.
Written work is often drafted with AI from my own material. My transcripts, my notes, my previous writing, my actual client work. Then I read it, cut it, and rewrite the parts that do not sound like me. Nothing goes out that I have not read end to end.
AI has never decided what I think about anything. Not a tool, not a product, not a company. It drafts from what I already believe. It does not form the belief. If that distinction matters to you, good. It is the reason this section exists.
Sponsored content and brand deals.
I take sponsorships. They pay for the work. Here is the deal I hold to:
- — Sponsored segments are disclosed upfront, before the content.
- — Compensation or free access is involved, and I say so.
- — No company reviews or approves my commentary. Ever.
- — I say what is good and what is not.
Payment has never made me recommend something I would not otherwise recommend. If a product is bad, I say it is bad, or I do not take the deal. Those are the only two options.
Affiliate links.
Most links to tools on this site are affiliate links. There are a lot of them, because I keep a running list of what I actually use.
If you click one and buy something, I earn a commission at no extra cost to you. You can always go to the company directly instead, and it makes no difference to what I recommend.
I do not list tools I do not use.
Modern Builders Society.
Members pay to be in a room where people talk honestly about what is working and what is not. That only works if the room is safe.
What you share inside stays inside. If I want to use something you posted, or something you said in office hours, I ask you first. Every time.
I talk publicly about patterns, lessons, and my own work. I do not talk publicly about yours.
What I will not do.
- — Recommend a tool I do not use.
- — Let a sponsor change my opinion, or preview it before you hear it.
- — Publish something I have not read all the way through.
- — Repeat what you said in the community without asking.
- — Pretend AI did not touch something it touched.
Why this page exists.
You are reading content from someone with commercial relationships all over the space he talks about. Pretending otherwise would be insulting. So this is the accounting, and if something here bothers you, that is useful information for both of us.
This page is about what you read, watch, and join. If you want to know what it is like to hire me, that is a different page.
