ChatGPT
OpenAI's chat app. I moved to Claude for real work, but their image generation is still the best I've used.
ChatGPT was the first AI tool I ever used, same as most people. I ran a ton of copywriting, code snippets, and web development work through it, and voice mode when it first launched was the thing that got me taking any of this seriously. Then I moved into the Claude and Anthropic ecosystem and never really moved back.
As of writing this I barely open the app or the website at all. The one place OpenAI is still clearly the best thing available is image generation. When ChatGPT Images 2.0 came out it was an obvious jump, and you can tell the difference immediately just by looking at the output next to anything else. I use it through the API, the gpt-image-2 model, to generate thumbnails and other images inside my pipelines. That’s the whole relationship now. I’m not really using it for inference or conversation anymore.
So it’s on this list for one specific job it happens to be the best at, not as a recommendation for your everyday AI. That’s Claude for me.
